Start practicing for yourself first

Firstly, try to build a journaling habit for yourself and then pass it on to your child. You will begin to experience a lot of magical change in your own mindset and then, you'd definitely want your kids to start journaling.

Fix a routine for your kids

Make sure your kids follow a routine and write every morning when they wake up and also before they sleep. Keep the journal at their bedside so they never miss out writing.

Start with Affirmations

Affirmations are positive sentences that, when you repeat them regularly (either out loud, write or to yourself), can shift negative thought patterns and promote positive thinking, self-esteem, and motivation. These can create a great impact on your child's mental, emotional and physical health.

Here's a list of few affirmations which they can begin with :

  • I am happy and I make others happy.

  • I am loved and appreciated.

  • I am brave and confident.

  • I am fit and healthy.

Ask your children to write sentences like these and they will start coming up with more brilliant affirmations once they understand how to write affirmations. Make sure they write in present tense.

Writing about things and people they are grateful for

Every morning ask them to write about a few things and people they are grateful for. This will help them to focus on things they already have in life and appreciate them. Expressing gratitude helps them in being more thankful and kind.

Here are a few examples of expressing gratitude :

  • I am grateful for my loving family.

  • I am thankful for the yummy food.

  • I am grateful for my friends and teachers.

  • I am grateful for my toys and books.
